The Media's Portrayal of Concussions in Football

In this article I am going to reflect on a research paper that I am working on. The blog will touch on how the media portrays concussions in football at all levels. I believe that the media portrays things in a positive way.

Writing a research paper is not an easy process, it takes a lot of time, diligence, and research. I have been able to really get a good start on my research because it is such a big topic in the media. My research argument paper argues that the media does a nice job of using their platform to educate people about concussions in football. I Think that this is such an important topic and it relates to such a wide variety of people because football is seen as Americas pastime. Since I did play football for most of my life starting in my youth, I find this topic to be very important and interesting because many people can be in danger if they are not educated about how concussions can effect them or brain injuries in general. Frontline did a production called League of Denial that outlines how many NFL players are suffering from brain related injuries after they retire. This was really a launching point for the media because it started a battle between them and the NFL. It was also interesting to learn from many players how their lives have been affected by CTE which is the brain disease that they are suffering from. Another movie that was produced to educate people was the movie called Concussion Starring Will Smith which also had a storyline similar to league of denial. I am continuing to try to do more research about my topic so that I am able to write an effective argument in my research paper. I think that I am still on track to meeting my deadline and I think that my finished product will turn out very good. I am excited as to where I am on my topic and I look forward to seeing where my research will take me.

  1. This is a great topic to be writing about with the NFL being what it is and of course safety in playing that sport. And I also think that the sources you're going to use are great too
